Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
1. Introduction
YouShu (“we”, “our”) is a personal spending tracker. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website, web app, and iOS app (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: your spending records belong to you. We never sell your data, never show ads, and never connect to your bank accounts.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the Service:
- Account information — the email address you register with and a securely hashed password.
- Records you create — amounts, categories, notes, dates, and other details you enter when tracking your spending.
- Preferences — currency, timezone, language, and date/time display settings.
- Technical data — basic server logs (such as IP address and request time) used to keep the Service secure and reliable.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the Service — store your records, compute your statistics and insights, and sync them across your devices.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Respond to your support requests.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or tracking, and we do not sell it to anyone.
4. No bank connection
YouShu never connects to your bank, card issuer, or any financial institution. Every record is entered by you — that is all we store.
5. Local storage and sync on iOS
The iOS app is local-first: your records are stored on your device and can be used fully without an account. When you sign in, your records sync to our servers so they are available on your other devices. Signing out or deleting your account also removes the local data from the device.
6. Cookies and local storage
The web app uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, and a cookie to remember your language. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
7. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:
- Service providers — the hosting providers that run our servers and store the database, bound by their own security obligations.
- Legal requirements — when required by law or necessary to protect the rights and safety of our users.
8. Data security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords and refresh tokens, and a database that is not exposed to the public internet. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep your records safe.
9. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual records at any time, or delete your entire account from Settings — this removes your data from our servers. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged.
10. Your rights
You can access and correct your data in the app at any time, and you can delete your account together with all associated data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as data portability) — contact us to exercise them.
11. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the app or on this page before they take effect.
